However it is impossible for these apps or even the website to install anything on your computer and run it. Only if you click on Download--and actually double click on the executable!!

When Jela331 was talking about flash earlier, it was most likely using a script to redirect to a virus. I know that some SWF. files can be used to exploit vunerabilities.

Plus, Facebook has had problems with some exploits that allows virus writers to spread viruses anyway.

Not unless you run a very outdated web browser and or have outdated flash (or addons)

OK,but don't press link if some unknown person sends you.
Do not!

I just delete it instead of opening.
Btw. I recommend you even to not open it.

How come this thread is not closed yet? Guys, stop discussing shit, this thread is about nothing. You can't get virus if you do not download anything (unless you have very outdated browser or flash player). That's all. Jela331 is just using computer second time in his fucking life, why do you care? I'll tell you what, by the way. The link itself can be a little bit tricky, it can be java script, for example. Then it can take your cookies and send 'em somewhere, which can be also kinda dangerous for you. But, damn you all, unless you do not download shit - you're in safe.

Didn't you say that there was a message that said "download adobe flash player here"? Maybe it was a fake link that when downloaded it automatically executes itself. Or maybe you were just watching too much porn on her pc. Hehe ok enough with th porn jokes, besides porn sites aren't infected as they used too. Oh and virus can be installed into your computer from a website without you giving permission to download or let it access your pc. Remember the goggle website? So there are many ways you could get a virus. And the best possible solution and prevention would be get a good anti viruse and never answer any suspicious emails from uknown people. Hope this helps ya solve the mystery of the virus attack lol. Hpw many characters did I just type?

lolol @ random crap...

Javascript is pure client side. Means it is unable to interact with your computer. Even if it got a hold of your cookies they are only sessions...I doubt any cookies actually save in clear string, and even if they did they would at least md5() it. If you look @ unrealsoftware cookies it's just a session id.

Kinda contradicting yourself, don't you think? It's client-side, so it can do things to your computer... Simplest thing is that it sends you to another website. A phishing one like log into your facebook account. Or those 'You have a trojan horse, download AV to save yourself' scams...

You know that some cookies contain passwords you saved from your browser right?

In firefox for example if you saved passwords, it's messed up to the point that you can see ( Like see the character, they're not hidden) all your saved passwords...

You said that.
Dude, I have no damn internet on my computer and a virus. Do you see me complaining!? No. I'm fine, you're just crying because you downloaded some porn and got a stupid virus that turns the comp on and off.

Lets not start a flame ware here.

Lets see

You copied exactly what I have said about outdated browsers and outdated addons such as adobe flash.

user Dreamcatcher has written

You don't know how cookies work...they are just a hash to identify you. They don't store passwords, they don't store personal information. Also your browser sends cookies based on the url. Within php, the server owner can only use $_COOKIE['index'] to locate all the cookies you have sent over.

@DoP3

It's based on the remote website if they decide to save passwords as string or not. If we're talking about unrealsoftware it's not the same, it's just random session crap.

No I'm not, do you even know javascript? If you did you would know that javascript is not able to do any of that stuff. It can't access your files or folders, it can't interact with your browser and it can't take cookies that your browser isn't sending over.

----

Bottom Line: No websites have the ability to access your files and passwords.

It can only interact with the cookies you are sending over, means if the cookies don't belong to them they are not sent over.

I would much rather have Lee or DC come in here to say this, seriously. They knows this crap better than anyone here.

When you click allow it is granting it access to post on your wall, use your personal information that you post of facebook and other acts.

Either that or you fell for that javascript spam script crap. Like that youtube fake security check with copy paste.

If you paste anything in your url box that has javascript:, it's probably going to send a message to all your friends, and post spam on everyone's wall.

To clarify, that's not a virus.

You can use SWF. files to exploit viruses either way. If you use ActionScript within the file you can use it to either redirect to another website or something else, no matter what flash player or web browser you have.

Also, this was only an assumption based on what Jela331 said, though I could be wrong about it.
