Is there any room for concern about video games that have guns in them, & the effect that they might have on the world around us?

I wonder if there needs to be a ban on video games that depict violence against other people.

The games that are being released now are numerous, & they are difficult to keep track of.

We all need to analyze the impact that video games are having on our ecosystem & the rest of the world.

Video games need to take place in a digital area that only exists in our imagination. It is important that video games are not producing real effects in real worlds!

I want to protect myself & my peers from violating laws. I am very worried that video games are not technologically sound.

I wonder why you seem to think that games are some special case in that regard.
Violence is everywhere in all media: Movies, videos, music, books, etc.

If you consider banning games which contain that stuff then you also have to consider banning that content in all other types of media.

I don't see any reason to do so however. Violence and guns are (unfortunately) part of the world and part of humanity. It's nothing we should hide. It's important that everybody learns that these things exist and it's even more important that people realize that these things are bad.

So the real task - in my opinion - is not to hide such things but to make sure that people understand them the right way. Guns and violence = bad. That's the message media should convey in some way.

I strongly disagree with the last sentence. Video games should have positive effects in the real world - which apparently is the case.

Would you really break laws just because you played a game? I would call that insane. I'm pretty sure that the average grown up person is smart enough to tell fiction and reality apart and that a game can give you a safe space to do otherwise forbidden/bad stuff. A sane person can still tell that repeating the same stuff in reality is not a good idea.

Worry no more. Games are safe.

So you woke up one day and suddenly decided to post this in the CS2D board 9 years after your last post?
