@user CaneCorso: If CS2D is made out of 8-bit graphics, then all the colors of the game would be only eight. Like Pacman or Space Invaders. More like 24-bit or 16-bit (Depends on how you save the color of an image file).

8 colors would be 1 bit.
8 bit (this means 8 bit / 1 byte to express the color of a pixel) can even give you 256 different colors.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/8-bit_color

CS2D is obviously using 32 bit colors (it has a fallback option to run with 16 bit though). This means you have even 4 bytes to express the color of a pixel. One for reg, one for green, one for blue and one for the transparency.

So CS2D's look isn't limited color-wise.

Most people are accustomed to using "standard packaging". It is neither good nor bad - in real world is only developer should worry how is better looking and
how is useful his product. In our case, it is style and design in which CS2D is done.

As far as I know its graphics and sound were made by user DC without any invitation of artists or sound engineer.
I think that maybe sometime later, when CS2D will be a commercial product, user DC will invite someone to change its design to more cool and realistic.

Like as other programms and goods, CS2D allows you to change it and configured to have maximum enjoyment of its gameplay. So my(and other users) mods/skins/etc change standart CS2D skins and gameplay "to have maximum enjoyment of its gameplay".
I create my files(and my life) based on wises saying of one man:

And I advise you to do the same.

I apologize for my bad english.

Wait...what?
I think user DC won't make it commercial or something like that. Is not necessary for him to make it commercial just to invite someone to change the design of this game to more realistic.

@user Pagyra: I don't want CS2D to be a commercial game ever. It will always stay free.

I'm also not planning any major updates for CS2D. There will be minor fixes and improvements but no major changes like changing all the graphics or like completely changing the map format. This has several reasons:
• I like the game the way it is (simple, small, casual)
• I don't want to break existing maps/mods/scripts
• CS2D is based on a pretty limited engine (BlitzMax). This is not the right foundation for a game with state of the art graphics / light effects / shaders.

I MIGHT do another game like CS2D and use another, more powerful engine (like Unity) but everyone knows that I'm currently busy with my no 1. priority game Stranded III so this is only a possible plan for distant future.
