So uh, according to your logic C is nowhere near C++. You're just lame.

..?

I said I would code faster in C because it is my language of choice, nothing about one language being superior/harder. I learned to program in C and I am not used to programming in object-oriented languages, therefore C is my choice due to familiarity and the fact that I would not be able to use C++'s feature set fully and also produce code that is poorly optimized because I do not have the same set of common hacks and tricks under my belt. I do not understand how you could come up with that statement of yours.

Thank you for confirming my assumption that you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Neither BlitzMax nor Monkey have real and ready to use official 3D engines built-in. And they are clearly not more advanced. This is so ridiculous ... discussion is over.

Don't say so just because you can't make it work. nginx offers no PHP support by default, but you can still configure it to work with PHP. And it will work better than Apache in all the cases.

Same goes here. Unity 3D is a bunch of useless modules and shit you don't need.

Quite frankly, I think you're the one who's "lame".
It's good to question stuff, but to just say that something/someone's stupid without giving proper reasons is just stupid.

But, I think we should end the fighting about engines and what not.
DC has decided to use Unity3D and has said that he wont leave it now.
So, instead of just shouting at each other about what engine/language is better, let's just go back to commenting on DC's dev blog.
We're getting far too off-topic, imo.

That was to your words about Unity 3D, not you coding in C or C++.

So tell me, where exactly did I call someone stupid.

There is no reason to waste months or years with adding a bad open source 3D engine to Monkey or BlitzMax. I can use Unity3D and it rocks. You have no idea about the real Unity3D because you didn't use it or you just used it in the kid way.

I agree with user VapidLinus. I don't want this pointless discussion to be continued.

Don't get me wrong, and don't see it as if I'm trying to push you, as I'm not.
But, how often and how much do you work on Stranded III atm, approximately?

Again, I'm not trying to push you, I'm just curious

I don't want to get into detail there. It also changes all the time. There are weeks were I do nearly nothing and then there are days where I spend nearly the entire day with working on SIII. Please keep in mind that this is just a hobby and that I got other stuff to do so I can't work on it full time.

Thanks for the honest reply!
I completely understand that it varies from time to time, as it's exactly the same for me

Can we create LAN servers to play with local machines (or virtually local machines by using hamachi, for example...)

As long as DC lets us join an IP directly, I don't see why we wouldn't be able to.
If we get to host our own servers and join an IP freely, we should be able to.

That brings me to the question:
DC, will there be a master-server, so we can see a public list of public servers (that sounded stupid) and join them directly?
Like in CS2D for example?

LAN will work and I already wrote in the worklog that the game will support U.S.G.N.
This means:
• Login system
• Serverlist
• See where people in your friends list play

@user DC: I have a quection... Did you fixed that "tree shadow" bug?

As DC has switched to a new game engine, the problem shouldn't be there anymore.
Unity's shadows are quite awesome and I have never experienced such issues with it.

Though, 'till DC upgrades to the Pro version of Unity, there wont be shadows at all

back to the FPS hands thing- if you guys played Mount & Blade any/all if you play in first person mode, you will see the players full body, his hands, his feet, his torso, and of course his weapon/tool... i feel this would be good, because then the game could run in 3rd and 1st perspectives, by simply removing the head model, and replace it with a camera, this way you can see the armour and weapons you have equipped without having to goto inventory (plus it just looks cool)

this would be great, i feel this is the best fps game perspective yet, well better then COD, which dont even have legs... and halo which dont have a torso.

I wonder what would be the story in adventure mode, I just can't wait SIII to be finish, anyway, is someone helping DC to make stranded 3 or he's just making stranded 3 on his own.

Personally, I don't really care that much 'bout it
Graphics have never concerned me too much.
It'd be a neat little effect though, but not one I'd really care 'bout
