A question.
Microsoft just released Windows Vista. It is said that many computers will not be able to handle the new Windows, so can someone tell me the requiremants?
Or give me a link to somewhere that can tell that to me ?
My computer is supported
The only thing is i a have 512 MB ram and 1 gb is recommended
And i think i WILL install windows vista cause my windows xp wich i have installed...
Many things like soundrecorder, monitor-keyboard, magnifier, attach case (is that english for aktenkoffer?) aren't installed and i cant install it in windows setup.
Vista wont work on my crap Dell... I heard from someone that Vista has this copywrite protection thing that slowly lowers the quality of all the songs on your pc until it goes to 16k or so . I dont know if this is true I didnt hear about it from anyone else but who knows? My only problem is that Vista needs AT LEAST 512 megs of memory. Thats 4 times the memory of my dell at least my new pc is here Im just too lazy to put it together . 2gb ram and 128meg video card and i got the thing for about $270!!! with rebates.

That's nonsense. One of my commiltons has Vista on his Laptop and his mp3s work fine.
Though that his Vista seems to work acceptable, I still think it's crap for at least one year. There are rarely any drivers for Vista releaseable, and some "Vista Ready" doesn't run at all.
Also I think it has to much Eyecandy (I actually like eyecandy, but it should be cool, functional and turn off-able ). Also, MacOS X is much better in this way.
BTW, my Notebook (HP nx6325) is Vista capable (1.6 GHz Turion 64 x2, 1024 MB Ram, 100 GB SATA-HDD, 3D-Graficcard), but I won't install Vista (at least not directly), because this is my Declared Linux-Only System, and Linux is really running great on it
I heard that vista is the most stable windows yet, but it has a lot of useless crap. I think i will have it in a month or 2, as soon I'll update my RAM to 1024 Mb.

dunno, I have seen my friends crash it 3 times per hour.
On the other Hand, they are using RC-Versions, perhaps the buyable will be a bit better
vista sucks, i tried the beta (got accepted yay lol) and it screwed up my computer, my advice, dont try it if u can, and 512 mb doesnt cut it, if u want the version with the nice looking crap, u need at least 1gb of ram, i have 2 luckily but it still sucks, plus OSX already had all that features
You tried BETA. That is a NOT finished version of Windows. But i must agree that 1gb of ram is realy to much. I know only a few games that need 512 ram, I don't know a game that needs 1gb ram. I think it should be 256 ram and 512 for the advanced version.
If you cut the term games down to the high quality commercial games, perhaps.
Though, this games won't run on Vista either if you haven't got at least 1.5GB RAM
meh i have 1 gb on my new ultimate pwnage pc with vista and games like Falcon 4 and Comanche 4 and Americas Army work just fine. I usually get like 60 FPS on high settings. But of course, Falcon4 and Comanche4 are about 3 years old and AA runs on the old Unreal engine. And yeah, 1 gb is not enough to fully enjoy games like doom3 and HL2 you can play them at an acceptable framerate but its like 15FPS. HL2 works on my pc though. And I finally found some bugs in Vista but I cant really explain them in this post and they arent very bad.
btw my ultimate pwnage pc wasnt meant to be a super gaming pc its a gaming pc on a budget it was about $240 with rebates its mainly because I play old games.
I find the thing with my documents strange.
The folder My Documents is now the same as your user directory, where also application data, desktop, ie favorites and so are.
Or how shall i understand that?
OMFG hold on- can anyone please tell me how much hard drive space Windows Vista takes up? I think that its supposed to be 15gb but I just looked in Computer and i find that my new 160gb hard drive is almost full!!! What the hell? whats more, it says that its a 32 gb hard drive! And I barely have anything on it!!! All my stuff altogether takes up about 12gb!!! it says i have 2.92 gb left and its glowing red!!!! HOLY CRAP!!!! any ideas to whats going on?!
Windows xp: C:\Users and Settings\blubber\My Documents\
Vista: C:\Users\blubber\
So there is no folder My Documents in Vista and My Documents and Apllication Data and so on are messed up
That's what Dicker said. This Typical for Unix-Systems (usually, mosts users simply create a directory "work", or like me "Dokumente" there (though mine lies under ~/Desktop/) )
Usually there are even much more files in the Unix Home Directorys then there are on windows. But they start usually with a point, which makes them hidden. Dunno wether Vista sets the Hidden attribute for appdirs or not.

...long, chaotic post. cutted...
Calm down, it's a driver problem. Like I said (did I?) most drivers on vista are still crap. Go to the homepage of your HDDs producer and look there for new drivers. If you can't find any (or your HDD is noname), tell microsoft.

Yes vista makes appdata invisible but i like it with invisible files visible
