Hi there!

I'm thinking of hosting a dedicated server.

Then I think why not get a single board computer to do that job. They are small so properly will cost less to maintain than my desktop.

So, I brought my old Raspberry Pi and boot it up for a try. Turn out it is incompatible for this game because it use ARM CPUs.

So I need a proper single board computer to get it done.

Which one would you recommend?

I don't see point to host dedicated server in home when you can just rent VPS for 5 EUR per month.

BTW I managed to run CS2D on my Raspberry Pi 3 but performance was horrible.

There are others like Banana Pi I guess is the most famous.
Arduino is also capable of many things but doesnt come with any OS therefore making hosting etc impossible.
The next would be shit like MCP430 with pure assembly code.

Actually you´d be better buying old hardware like Intel Athlon, Pentium 'n'stuff you get this shit for free/a few bucks I think.

I have the last smartphone that featured a mobile x86 CPU You could buy that, but a used PC would be cheaper and faster for home hosting.

You could run QEMU for software translation ARM→x86 but it would be even slower. You can try it for fun if you want, but it probably won't be usable. (That's probably what user Hajt did)

Alternatively, there are computer that isn't one board and offer better cost. Or I can just rent a VPS which cost over 50$ a year for it.

Well, I don't want to have another clunky case of low performance PC in my room for sure. So I guess VPS is the way then.
